Lynn Ahrens

Lynn Ahrens, born October 1, 1948 in New York City, is an American writer and lyricist for the musical theatre, television and film. She began her career as a copywriter for McCaffrey and McCall before transitioning into songwriting. Her breakthrough came when she wrote "The Preamble" for ABC-TV's Schoolhouse Rock!. Ahrens met Stephen Flaherty at the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in 1982, marking the start of their long-standing collaboration.
