Lúcio Alves was a Brazilian singer and musician who formed the vocal and
instrumental group Namorados da Lua in 1941. In 1954, he achieved a significant
career milestone by collaborating with Dick Farney on the hit single "Tereza da
praia," composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Billy Blanco. From 1959 onward,
Alves became a key figure in the bossa nova movement, recording influential
works and popularizing tracks such as "Rio" and "O barquinho." Following a
professional recording hiatus during the mid-1960s, he returned to the studio in
1975 to release a self-titled album.
