Los Palmeras
A cumbia group from Santa Fe, Argentina, Los Palmeras was founded in 1969,
initially under the name Sexteto Palmeras. Despite frequent changes of
personnel, the group opened its recording account in 1976 with Volumen 1. It was
not until 1983, however, that the group really changed dimension, obtaining its
first gold disc with Cumbia y luna in 1983, and confirming its popularity the
following year with the discs Por siempre and Corazón no me preguntes. The
latter included one of Los Palmeras' biggest hits, "La suavecita", which took
