Lole y Manuel, a flamenco duo formed in 1972, consisted of Dolores Montoya
Rodríguez and Manuel Molina Jiménez. Born into artistic gypsy families in
Andalusia, Spain, they began performing together in 1973. Their breakthrough
came with the release of Nuevo Día (1975), which became a critical and
commercial success despite an initial lack of promotion. The album introduced
innovative elements like mellotron and folk influences into flamenco. Subsequent
releases included Pasaje del Agua (1976) and Lole y Manuel (1977). After a
