Liliane Berton
Liliane Berton, born on July 11, 1924, in Bully-les-Mines, Pas-de-Calais, was a
French operatic soprano. She studied voice at the Conservatoire de Lille and
later at the Conservatoire de Paris before making her professional debut in 1952
at the Opéra-Comique, creating the title role in Michel Maurice Lévy's Dolorès.
She was subsequently engaged by the Opéra de Paris, where her roles included
Sophie in Werther, Poussette in Manon, Rosine in Le Barbier de Séville, Siebel
in Faust, and Eurydice in Orphée. She also performed Mozart roles such as
