Lew Douglas
Lew Douglas, born on August 25, 1912 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was an American
composer, arranger, and conductor. During World War II, he served in the U.S.
Army as an arranger and conductor for some of the army's swing bands.
Post-military, Douglas moved to Chicago and studied at the Chicago Conservatory
of Music. He began his career arranging for big bands like Ted Weems and Eddy
Howard. Douglas joined NBC as a staff arranger for TV shows and later became
head arranger and producer for Mercury Records in Chicago. Notable compositions
