Leslie Arthur Julien Hutchinson, known as Hutch, and born on March 7, 1900, in
Gouyave, Grenada, was a singer and musician. He began playing piano at an early
age and moved to New York in 1916 to study medicine, where he started performing
in bars. In New York, Hutchinson joined a group led by Henry "Broadway" Jones
and performed for wealthy families. He later moved to Paris in 1924, becoming a
resident performer at Joe Zelli's club and befriended Cole Porter. By 1927,
