Léon Désiré Petit, known as Léo Petit, was a French jazz musician, guitarist,
and musical arranger, born on September 22, 1923, in Haubourdin. He began his
musical journey at age 14, playing drums in his parents' café-dancing. During
World War II, his family moved to Paris, where he discovered jazz and guitar,
inspired by Django Reinhardt. Petit started performing in cafés and joined Aimé
Barelli's orchestra in 1943, leading to studio sessions for artists like
Lucienne Delyle. He worked with Jacques Denjean in the 1950s and toured Europe.
