Lanterna (formed 1990, in Champaign) is an American instrumental rock project
led by Henry Frayne. The recording career began as a collaboration with Brendan
Gamble and Lynn Canfield with the self-released cassette Lanterna (1992).
Several tracks appeared on the vinyl recording Of Shapes That Haunt Thought's
Wilderness (1993) before the debut album was reissued by Parasol Records (1995)
and Rykodisc (1998). The recording gained recognition when the song "Silent
Hills" appeared on the National Public Radio collection All Songs Considered
