LA-PPISCH
LÄ-PPISCH is a rock band formed in Tokyo in 1981 that made its major-label debut
in 1987 with the single “Payapaya”. Their sound is characterized by a unique
blend of punk rock, ska, reggae, and funk. The members are MAGUMI (vocals,
trumpet), tatsu (bass), and Kyoichi Sugimoto (guitar). Their major works include
the albums “KARAKURI HOUSE” (1990) and “make” (1994), and they are known for
songs such as “Payapaya” (1988), “Ricksack” (1990), and “Arigatou” (1995).
“Arigatou” was released as a single in 1995 and became one of the defining works
of the band’s later period.
