Guadalupe Victoria Yolí Raymond, known as La Lupe, was born on December 23, 1936
in Santiago de Cuba. She began her musical career after completing a teaching
degree, performing in Havana venues with her first husband, Eulogio "Yoyo"
Reyes, forming the Trío Tropicuba. In 1959, they started performing at La Red
bar. After relocating to New York City, she collaborated with Tito Puente,
releasing successful albums including La Lupe Is Back (1961) and Queen Of Latin
