Knasterbart, a German folk rock band, was formed in 2012 by Malte Hoyer, singer
of Versengold. The project began as Hotze Knasterbart for a live role-playing
game and released Sauf mich schön. In 2013, Hoyer and Simon Erichsen from Mr.
Hurley & die Pulveraffen started performing together before expanding into a
full band with seven members. Their first major performance was at the
Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum in Rastede. The band released several
albums, including Branntwein für alle! (2014), an overhauled version of Sauf
