Kenickie
Kenickie were an English rock band from Sunderland, formed in 1994. The group
consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Lauren Laverne (born Lauren Gofton),
drummer Johnny X (real name Pete Gofton), lead guitarist Marie du Santiago (born
Anne Marie Nixon), and bass guitarist Emmy-Kate Montrose (born Emma Jackson).
Named after a character from the film Grease, Kenickie released their debut EP,
Catsuit City, in 1995. The band's breakthrough came with the release of "In Your
Car" in January 1997, which peaked at Number 24 on the UK Singles Chart and
