Kate Royal, born in 1979 in London, is an English opera singer known for her
lyrical soprano voice. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
and later at the National Opera Studio, graduating in summer 2004. Her
breakthrough came that same year when she replaced the lead as Pamina in
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
This performance caught the attention of conductor Simon Rattle, leading to
