Kanye West, born June 8, 1977, in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, first became
known as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records, especially through his work on
Jay-Z’s The Blueprint. His debut album, The College Dropout (2004), established
him as a solo artist with singles such as “Jesus Walks” and “All Falls Down.” He
followed with Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), and 808s & Heartbreak
(2008), expanding his sound and commercial reach through tracks including “Gold
Digger,” “Touch the Sky,” and “Stronger.” After the Grammy-winning My Beautiful
