Kala Marka
K’ala Marka, a Bolivian musical group founded in 1984 in La Paz by Hugo
Gutiérrez and Rodolfo Choque, formed as part of a research project on Andean
music. Their music blended traditional Bolivian rhythms with contemporary
influences. The band's first albums, Khochusiñani (1986) and Village de Pierre
(1987), featured traditional songs and covers. In 1989, K’ala Marka released
their first album with original compositions, Chuyma lunthata. Subsequent
