Jon Hazilla
Jon Hazilla, born in 1956, is an American jazz drummer, educator, and recording
artist. He studied under renowned drummers Max Roach, Joe Morello, and John
Riley before establishing himself as a versatile performer. In 1986, he appeared
on Ran Blake's Short Life of Barbara Monk, and by the late 1980s, he was working
as a session musician for Cadence Jazz Records and performing with the Cadence
All Stars. Hazilla released his debut album, Chicplacity (1987), featuring Ray
Drummond and John Hicks, followed by The Bitten Moon (1994). In the mid-1990s,
