John Michael O'Keefe, known as Johnny O'Keefe, was born on January 19, 1935, in
Bondi Junction, Sydney, Australia. He began his music career in the early 1950s,
influenced by American singer Johnnie Ray and performing at local dances. His
breakthrough came in 1956 when he formed Australia's first rock 'n' roll band,
The Dee Jays. O'Keefe gained national prominence with hits like "Wild One"
(1958), "Shout!", and "She's My Baby". He released over 50 singles, 50 EPs, and
