Johnny McEvoy, born John McEvoy on April 24, 1945, in Banagher, is an Irish folk
singer and songwriter. He worked as a graphic designer before starting a career
in music. In 1966, McEvoy released the single “Muirsheen Durkin”, which reached
Number 1 on the Irish charts. This was followed by the recordings “The Boston
Burglar” and “Nora”, which also reached Number 1. McEvoy performed in the United
States at Carnegie Hall and formed the Johnny McEvoy Band in 1970. He composed
