Johnny Kemp
Jonathan "Johnny" Kemp was born on August 2, 1959, in the Bahamas and began
performing in nightclubs at age 13 before moving to Harlem, New York, in 1979
with the band Kinky Fox. Kemp's early career involved successful songwriting and
session work, including collaborations on albums such as B.B. & Q. Band’s All
Night Long (1982) and Change’s Sharing Your Love (1982). He landed a solo
recording contract with Columbia Records in 1986, releasing his self-titled
debut album that charted at number 36 on Billboard's Top Black Albums chart. The
