Johnny Richard Duncan, born on October 5, 1938, in Dublin, Texas, was a country music singer-songwriter. He began his career singing with his family's band. In April 1959, he auditioned for Norman Petty in Clovis, New Mexico, leading to a signing with Leader Records. After moving to Nashville, Duncan began recording for Columbia Records in the late 1960s.
