Johnny Cymbal
Johnny Cymbal, born John Hendry Blair on February 3, 1945 in Ochiltree,
Scotland, was a Scottish-American singer-songwriter and record producer. After
relocating to Cleveland, Ohio, as a youth, he began writing songs at 13 and was
signed by MGM Records at 15, producing two early singles that failed to chart. A
renewed partnership with Kapp Records in 1963 yielded the breakthrough single
"Mr. Bass Man", which reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the
follow‑up "Dum Dum Dee Dum" and "Teenage Heaven" achieved moderate success. His
