John Hollenbeck
John Hollenbeck, born on June 19, 1968, in Binghamton, New York, is an American
jazz drummer and composer. Influenced by his older brother, Hollenbeck learned
piano for a year before receiving training on drums, later studying percussion
and jazz composition at the Eastman School of Music. In the 1990s, he performed
with ensembles including Bob Brookmeyer's New Art Orchestra and the WDR Big
Band, and in 1998, he joined the ensemble of vocalist Meredith Monk. Hollenbeck
