John Brim
John Charles Brim, born April 10, 1922, was an American Chicago blues guitarist,
songwriter, and singer from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Brim's early guitar studies
were influenced by Big Bill Broonzy and Tampa Red. After relocating to
Indianapolis in 1941 and Chicago in 1947, he signed with Chess Records and
recorded the track "Ice Cream Man" in 1953, which would later be covered by
Van Halen. Brim’s discography includes the 1994 album The Ice Cream Man,
nominated for a W. C. Handy Award, and the 2000 release Jake's Blues. He
