Joe Higgs
Joseph Benjamin Higgs, born on June 3, 1940, in Jamaica, was a musician known
for his contributions to reggae music. Higgs' music often reflected his
experiences growing up in impoverished areas like Trenchtown, addressing themes
of struggle and freedom. He began his career as part of the duo Higgs and Wilson
with Roy Wilson, recording their first single "Oh Manny Oh" in 1958. After
Wilson's emigration in 1964, Higgs pursued a solo career and mentored young
