Joe Gallivan, born on August 9, 1937, is an American jazz and avant-garde musician, percussionist, synthesizer player, and drummer. After beginning his career in Miami, he moved to New York in 1961 and worked with musicians including Donald Byrd and Eric Dolphy. In the 1960s, he became interested in electronic music and collaborated with Vladimir Ussachevsky, later helping test Robert Moog's electronic drum system.
