Jo Dee Messina is an American country singer-songwriter. Born in Framingham on
August 25, 1970, she grew up in Massachusetts and began playing local clubs at
16 before moving to Nashville when she was 19. Her live appearances and demos
attracted attention and she made her album debut with Jo Dee Messina in 1996.
The album was co-produced by country star Tim McGraw and spawned two hits,
"Heads Carolina, Tails California" and "You're Not in Kansas Anymore". Her real
