Jim Robinson, born Nathan Robinson in 1890 in Deer Range, Louisiana, was an
American jazz trombonist. He studied music under James Brown Humphrey and began
his professional career in his twenties during World War I. In the 1920s, he
made his first recordings as a member of the Sam Morgan Jazz Band. He was
renowned for his deep, robust "tailgate" style of trombone playing. In the
1940s, he became a regular member of Bunk Johnson's and George Lewis' bands
