James Braidie Galloway, known as Jim Galloway, was born on July 28, 1936, in
Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland. He played multiple saxophones and the clarinet,
beginning his jazz career playing traditional jazz clarinet during his studies
at the Glasgow School of Fine Arts. In 1964, he moved to Canada and joined the
Metro Stompers in Toronto, leading them from 1968. Galloway toured extensively
with the band. He founded the Wee Big Band in 1978. His album Walking On Air was
