Jeff Hirshfield

Jeffrey Lee Hirshfield was born on August 22, 1955, in New York City and is an American jazz drummer. Trained under Ed Soph before joining the Joffrey Ballet from 1976 to 1977. His first breakthrough came in 1977 when he began touring with Mose Allison, establishing his reputation as a versatile jazz drummer. Throughout the 1980s, he recorded My Foolish Heart (1988) with Marc Cohen, Gary Peacock and John Abercrombie and co‑led the trio ETC from 1988 to 1991, producing ETC Plus One (1993).
