Jeannette Ortega was born on November 19, 1986, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York,
and pursued a career as a singer. Early exposure to music came through her
participation in the Brooklyn High School of the Arts, where her track "Got What
It Takes" was featured on the soundtrack for the 2003 film Love Don't Cost a
Thing. In 2005, she released the single "It's R Time", which later appeared on
the Freedom Writers soundtrack. Ortega signed with Hollywood Records in 2002
and, in 2006, issued her debut album No Place Like Brooklyn, which entered the
