Jan-Hendrik Rootering, born on March 18, 1950, in Wedingfeld near Flensburg,
Germany, was a German opera singer known for his bass-baritone voice. His
father, Hendrikus Rootering, a Dutch tenor, mentored him. During his vocal
studies at the Musikhochschule Hamburg, Rootering performed smaller roles at the
Staatsoper Hamburg and the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen. He debuted
