James Fortune, born November 29, 1978, in Richmond, Texas, is an American singer
known for his contributions to soul music. His career began with the release of
You Survived, the debut album by James Fortune & FIYA, in September 2004. The
album's title track, "You Survived", became a significant hit, peaking as the
Number 2 most played Gospel song in the country and remaining in the Top 7 for
three years. This success led to Fortune being honored at the 19th annual ASCAP
