Jamal Roberts
Born in Meridan, Mississippi, on November 6, 1997, Jamal Roberts began singing
as a child and went on to compete on Sunday Best, finishing among the three
finalists. A teacher at an elementary school in his hometown, he recorded his
first single, "He's Preparing Me", in 2020, then entered the 23rd season of
American Idol, which he won on May 18, 2025, performing covers of " First Time"
(Teeks). First Time" (Teeks), "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" (The
Temptations) and "Heal", which was released as a single and reached No. 1 on the
Gospel Digital Songs chart.
