Jacob Herman Klein, born on October 14, 1688 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was a
Dutch composer and was known for being the first composer to write for the
cello. His notable works include 18 Sonatas, Op. 1 (1716), op. 2: 6 Duette für 2
Violoncelli (1719), and 6 Cello Sonatas, Op. 4 (1746). Klein's compositions were
influenced by his collaboration with Pietro Locatelli, who provided cello
