Wilfred Gerald "Jackie" Edwards, born in 1938 in Jamaica, was a musician, songwriter, and record producer known for his contributions to ska, R&B, soul, reggae, ballads, and rocksteady. Influenced by Nat King Cole, he began performing at age 14 and gained attention from Chris Blackwell in 1959. Edwards had four Number 1 singles in Jamaica between 1960 and 1961. When Blackwell set up Island Records in London in 1962, Edwards traveled with him and worked as a singer and songwriter for the label, recording The Most of Jackie Edwards (1963) and duets with Millie Small.
