Jack Johnson (born May 18, 1975, on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii) is an
American singer-songwriter, guitarist, surfer and filmmaker known for acoustic
pop, folk-rock and surf-rooted songwriting. Raised in a surfing family, he
competed as a young surfer before studying film at the University of California,
Santa Barbara and working on surf films including Thicker Than Water and The
September Sessions. After early songs circulated through the surf community,
Jack Johnson released his debut album Brushfire Fairytales in 2001, followed by
