Jack Hylton

Jack Hylton was an English pianist, bandleader and impresario born in 1892 in Great Lever, Lancashire. Born John Greenhalgh Hilton, he initially performed as a piano accompanist for his father and joined a pierrot troupe in 1905. In 1913, Hylton moved to London where he worked as a cinema organist and as a pianist at the 400 Club. He achieved international prominence during the British dance band era as the leader of the Jack Hylton Orchestra.
