Jack Daugherty, born on August 13, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio, was an American
musician and music producer. He began his career as a trumpeter with Woody
Herman's band. By the 1960s, he had retired from active music but maintained
industry connections. Daugherty facilitated the Carpenters' demo reaching Herb
Alpert, leading to their signing with A&M Records in 1969 and produced their
