Ivon José Curi was born on June 5, 1928, in Caxambu, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He
started his career as a singer around 1944, performing sambas and chansons at
parties and shows before transitioning to radio performances. His breakthrough
came when he was hired by Caribé da Rocha as the lead vocalist for Orquestra
Zacarias at the Hotel Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro. In 1947, Curi signed
his first contract with Radio Nacional. He later moved to Rádio Tupi and
