Ithamara Koorax, born Ita Mara Jarlicht on April 28, 1965 in Brazil, is a jazz
and bossa nova singer. She began her career as a backup singer for commercials
and pop stars in Brazil, including Tim Maia and Vicente Viola. Her debut solo
album, Luiza - Live In Rio, was released in 1993. Koorax has collaborated with
numerous artists such as Ron Carter, Larry Coryell, Elizeth Cardoso, Gonzalo
Rubalcaba, John McLaughlin, and Sadao Watanabe. She has been recognized in the
