Intakto, a Canadian group originating from Quebec, was formed in July 1995. The
band consisted of Alejandro Venegas, a Chilean-born singer-guitarist, and Simon
Claude, a classical violinist from Quebec. Their debut album, Intakto (2002),
marked their breakthrough, winning the Prix Félix for Best World Music Album in
2003 and receiving a Juno nomination the same year. The album sold over 25,000
copies and earned Intakto an ADISQ nomination for Best World Music Album.
