In the Country are a Norwegian jazz trio from Oslo that formed in 2003. The
ensemble consists of the pianist Morten Qvenild, the bassist Roger Arntzen, and
the drummer Pål Hausken, who established the group while they were students at
the Norwegian Academy of Music. They achieved early recognition by winning the
“JazzIntro” Newcomer Award at Moldejazz in 2004. Their debut studio album, This
Was the Pace of My Heartbeat, was released (2004) followed by the recordings
Losing Stones, Collecting Bones (2006) and Whiteout (2009). The latter recording
