Ignasi Terraza, born on July 14, 1962, in Barcelona, Spain, is a pianist known
for his contributions to jazz. At age nine, he lost his sight and began playing
the piano, developing an affinity for improvisation and jazz. He studied
classical piano at the Conservatory of Barcelona while teaching himself jazz. In
1980, Terraza started performing in local clubs and attended the Polytechnic
University of Catalonia, becoming the first blind person in Spain to earn a
