Icon, an American rock band, was formed in 1981 in Phoenix, Arizona by Dan
Wexler (guitar), Stephen Clifford (lead vocals), and Tracy Wallach (bass).
Initially known as Ice, they evolved into Schoolboys and released the EP Singin'
Shoutin' in 1980. In 1984, after signing with Capitol Records and changing their
name to Icon, they released their self-titled debut album. The band's subsequent
release, Night of the Crime (1985), was produced by Eddie Kramer and featured
songwriter Bob Halligan Jr., but Clifford left during its production. Icon
