Ibeyi
Ibeyi were born Lisa‑Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz on 13 December 1994 in Paris,
France, where they grew up after two years spent in Havana. Their father,
renowned Cuban percussionist Anga Díaz, and their mother, French‑Venezuelan
singer Maya Dagnino, shaped their musical upbringing; the twins studied Yoruba
folk songs and learned instruments-Lisa‑Kaindé on piano and Naomi on cajón and
Batá drums. In 2013, they signed with XL Recordings, and the following year they
released the EP Oya, featuring the single "Oya", which introduced their blend of
Yoruba, French, and Afro‑Cuban sounds....
