Hailing from San Felipe, Baja California, Manuel Alberto Valdez Millán, known as
$HUPE, is a Mexican singer and songwriter who worked in the emerging crossover
between electro corridos, dembow bélico and corridos tumbados. By 2022 he had
begun gaining attention as a collaborator with fellow Mexican artist Victor
Mendivil, with their work included in streaming programming that highlighted a
new generation of regional and urban Mexican acts. In 2025, $HUPE’s profile rose
