Hossam Ramzy, born on December 15, 1953, in Cairo, Egypt, was a percussionist
and composer. He began playing the derbake and tabla at an early age. In the
1970s, Ramzy moved to London and started collaborating with jazz musicians,
earning the nickname "The Sultan of Swing." His breakthrough came in 1989 when
he worked on the soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ with Peter
Gabriel. This collaboration led to further high-profile projects, including No
