French singer Mathilde Gerner, known as Hoshi ("star" in Japanese), was born in
Versailles on September 14, 1996. After learning piano at the age of six and
guitar at fifteen, she composed her first songs and played in the group
TransyStory. In 2011, she won the Prix Jeunes Talents de Montigny-le-Bretonneux
on her own, before entering the casting for The Voice, la plus belle voix, which
she quit when asked to choose a cover version. After another show, Rising Star,
Hoshi was signed by the Jo&Co label, which enabled her to record her first
