His Name Is Alive, an American experimental rock band from Livonia, Michigan,
was formed in the mid-1980s by Warren Defever. Initially recording in his
basement with friend Angie Carozzo on vocals, the group's early work consisted
of self-released cassettes. In 1989, after sending demo tapes to 4AD Records,
the label signed His Name Is Alive following a series of improved versions sent
by Defever. Their debut album Livonia was released in 1990 and became one of
